April Fools

It is the day of fools. The first of April!

There is no better day for sharing one’s dreams. If you are serious and it fails, you will be able to play it off as an attempt to fool the world. But if you succeed, the day you started doesn’t matter.

The question then arises: Are you the fool for believing I’m aiming for the stars? Or am I the fool for attempting it?

When I was a younger man, writing was something I wanted to do. The funny part of that sentence is not me attempting to be a writer, but me referring to myself as a younger man.

Back to the point.

I did attempt it. I started a blog. I know. Eww. I even told people about it. I thought accountability would give me the motivation I needed. Twelve years later and the number of books I’ve written is… zero! I see the ‘accountability’ really paid off, huh?

My ears and eyes were lent to people whose names I no longer know. They commented on my life experiences as if it were their own. They laughed at my spelling and grammar, and made me play the fool.

But here’s the thing: I’m attempting to write. Again.

Maybe the day of fools was meant for men like me.
